5.5 Part 2 (For the THIRD TIME!)

  • you should have 3 separate sets of this HW completed for tomorrow

  • so that means when you finsh (5-18) all and (20-22) the first time, staple your papers together. Then take out a new sheet of paper for the second set. once you're done with the 2nd set, staple it together and take out a new sheet of paper to begin the third set.

  • work must be done in boxes

  • answers must be highlighted in the bottom right hand corner of each box

  • I will be spot checking 3 of the problems

  • you don't know which 3 problems I will be looking at but whatever they are, you better have them completed 3 times otherwise you get a zero for it!

  • once again, you should have (5-18) AND (20-22) completed 3 timese each!

5.6 Fundamental Theorem of Algebra

  • (1-12) all

5.5 Part 2 again!

  • this means you should have TWO sets of this HW completed for me to look at tomorrow since I am assigning it again.

  • pg 338-339

  • yesterday was (5-15) all and many of you guys didn't do the "meat and potatoes" of the work and/or you didn't use the shortcut so tonight's assignment is:

  • (5-18) all and

  • (20-22) all

5.5 Part 2 Theorems About Roots of Polynomial Equations

  • pg 338

  • (5-15) all

5.5 Part 1

  • pg 334

  • (5-20) all

  • if you did last night's HW of (5-19) odd, then you only have to do (6-20) even

  • otherwise, you have to do btBOTH last night's HW and tonight's HW. hence, (5-20) all

5.5 Part 1 Theorems About Roots of Polynomial Equations

  • read Problems 1 and 2 on pg 333

  • TAKE YOUR OWN NOTES!!!!!

  • Let me help you get started....

  • Aim 1: to find a rational root (then copy Problem 1). The book actually does a decent job of explaining this so much so that I don't think I could say it better myself and that's rare...

  • Aim 2: to use the rational root theorem to find the rational roots of an equation (once again, now you should copy Problem 2. Don't forget to copy the paragraph right above Problem 2!!!! That paragraph is part of Problem 2) The only thing I want you to change is Step 3. Step 3 should say, " Now use synthetic division to test each possible rational root to see if it is an ACTUAL root. It is an ACTUAL ROOT if there is no remainder!

  • (1-19) odd

  • yes, you might want to call a friend or 2 and work on these problems together!

  • Sharing is caring!.... =)
