•  Factor out a GCF if possible.  Then play the 2-card game for any quadratic expressions you have (numerator and denominator). Divide out where you can.  Remember, your restrictions exist only in the denominator because you can't have zero as a denominator.  The restrictions are determined BEFORE you divide anything out!
